Car Rental in Uganda provides convenient means of transportation for both locals and tourists visiting the country. To ensure a smooth and safe rental experience, there are terms and conditions to follow while hiring a car with us. Understanding these guidelines is crucial for anyone planning to rent a car from us.

These rules and regulations forge a mutual understanding between the company and clients and they can be used as a point of reference in case of any grievances which may arise while conducting business.  Below are the fundamental policies stipulated by Car Rental in Uganda for anyone who wishes to hire a car.

Reservation and Booking

1. Customers must make a reservation in advance to ensure availability.
2. Bookings can be made online, through a phone call, or in person at our rental office.
3. A valid driver’s license and identification document (passport or national ID) are required at the time of booking.

Driver Requirements

1. The minimum age for renting a car is 21 years old. The driver must have a valid driver’s license for a minimum of two years.
2. Additional drivers can be added to the rental agreement free of charge, provided they meet the age and license requirements.
3. The primary driver and any additional drivers must present their valid driver’s licenses and identification documents at the time of rental.

Rental Duration

1. The minimum rental period is 24 hours.
2. If the car is returned later than the agreed-upon time, additional charges may apply.

Rental Rates and Payments:

1. Rental rates are based on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, as specified during the booking process.
2. Customers must provide a valid credit card for payment. Cash payments are accepted and full amount of the rental must be paid on the first day of your trip.
3. Additional charges such as fuel, and optional extras (e.g., camping gear, ground tents, rooftop tents, GPS, baby seats) will be outlined in the rental agreement.

Insurance and Liability

1. All rental vehicles are covered by comprehensive insurance. The renter is responsible for the excess/deductible amount specified in the rental agreement in case of any damage or theft.
2. Personal belongings are not covered under the insurance policy. We recommend customers to secure their belongings at all times.

Fuel

1. The vehicle will be provided with a ¼ tank of fuel at the start of the rental.
2. The customer is responsible for returning the vehicle with a ¼ tank of fuel. Additional charges will apply if the vehicle is returned with less fuel.

Late Return

If the hirer wishes to extend their rental for extra days, communication must be made early. And they will only be charged the per-day fee as agreed in the agreement. For late returns, a premium fine is charged at the operator’s discretion.

Vehicle Maintenance and Breakdowns

1. The rental vehicles are regularly maintained to ensure their proper functioning.
2. In case of a breakdown or mechanical issue, customers should contact our 24/7 helpline for assistance. Repairs and towing will be arranged as necessary.

Traffic and Parking Violations:

1. The renter is responsible for any traffic fines, penalties, or parking violations incurred during the rental period.
2. administrative fees may apply for processing and transferring the fine to the customer.

Cancellation and Refunds

Customers can cancel their reservation up to 24 hours before the scheduled pick-up time. Cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a cancellation fee as stipulated below.

1 month and above – 90% refund of the total amount deposited

15 Days to 29 days – 70% refund of the total amount deposited

7 Days to 14 days – 50% refund of the total amount deposited

1 Day to 13 days – 30% refund of the total amount deposited

Less a Day- 0% refund of the total amount deposited

Note: This cancellation is only valid for clients who made full payment of their rental fees. For those, who only deposited commitment fees, no refund shall be made.

Dispute Resolution

In case of any disputes or disagreements, customers are encouraged to contact our customer service team for resolution.
